job #8,343: Assistant Professor of Environmental & Occupational Health

POSITION - In June 2014 we became the first CEPH accredited College of Public Health and Human Sciences for the State of Oregon. We continue to build on our existing strengths in the core disciplines of public health and human sciences by hiring a new faculty with expertise in Environmental and Occupational Health. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month tenure-track appointment for Assistant Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in Occupational Injury Prevention, Occupational Safety, Agricultural Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Environmental and Occupational (Industrial) Hygiene, Public Health or related discipline. Applicants may apply prior to completing their doctorate, but candidates must have earned a PhD by the start date of employment. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in public health as reflected by academic training, research, teaching and/or service. Applicants must have an interdisciplinary research focus aligned with the College's mission to advance knowledge, policies and practices that improve population health in communities across Oregon and beyond. A commitment to high teaching standards is required.

Candidates must have an established research program supported by extramural funding or demonstrated potential to develop such a program, and peer-reviewed publications. Although all areas of occupational health and safety will be considered, we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in occupational injury prevention, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, research to practice, intervention evaluation, and Total Worker Health(tm).

We are also seeking candidates whose research focuses on under-served and international populations. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsibilities include establishing an independent research program through external funding, advancing the University's research agenda in the area of Environmental and Occupational Health/Safety, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising graduate students, and providing service to the practice community and the field of public health.
