job #8,040: Coast Guard Environmental and Occupational Health Officer

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an O-4 Safety and Environmental Health Officer billet at the U.S. Coast Guard at the Health Services, Work Life Office, Norfolk, VA.  The majority of efforts are directed upon surveillance of the work environment to ensure the protection of the CG workforce, occupational health, public health, and property.  Support includes evaluating CG units for conditions or practices which could lead to personal injury, illness or disease, property damage, or which could adversely affect a unit's mission capability or readiness. Entry-level position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or MS/MPH in Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent degree program. Person must possess the skills necessary to conduct environmental health and industrial hygiene risk assessments to identify hazardous environments and/or operations within US Coast Guard operational activities. Person must also be able to deploy on short notice and for extended periods of time without restrictions.
