Please tell us about your career path so far, starting with your first job after graduation and leading to where you work now.
My first job after graduation was as a research assistant under Dr. Elizabeth Swisher at UW in the Department of University of Washington. I was working for the Gynecological Tissue Bank as well as a couple of clinical research projects. After that I moved to Washington D.C. to serve as an AmeriCorps member. I ran a free STI clinic along with an HIV peer support program at the largest LGBT community health clinic in the city. I am now currently in my second year of medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
What do you like best about your current position?
I really enjoy the aspect of learning diseases in depth and how they clinically present in patients.
Any advice for current undergraduates who are in the major or who are considering Environmental Health?
It's a great major where you get a lot of personal attention. I think it can be hard to get that at such a large university. I loved having my upper level EH classes with the same group of peers. You get exposure to many career options. The best way to get the most out of the major is to latch onto anything you find interesting -- being inquisitive and reaching out to people really goes a long way.
