BEBTEH trainees must be US citizens or permanent residents.
To be eligible to apply for a position on the BEBTEH training grant, you must first be formally admitted to a Ph.D. program in one of the following departments, each of which has their own admissions policies and deadlines: Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, and Epidemiology.
Letters of interest and CV's should be submitted at least 60 days before the start of the quarter for which you are requesting support. These should be sent to the BEBTEH Program Coordinator. There are 8 predoctoral positions on the grant; these are distributed across the participating departments and programs within departments.
For the current BEBTEH funding year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019), there may be 1-3 positions available through out the year - most likely in the Winter and Spring Quarters*. If you would like to be considered for one of these slots, submit your application materials at least 60 days before the quarter for which you are requesting support.
*The number of openings is dependent upon continued availability of funding and the number of current trainees who will be renewed for an additional year of funding. Selection of new trainees depends on a variety of factors including home department, quality of the applicant, student’s research area and focus in the quantitative and environmental health sciences.
Applications for postdoctoral positions will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. There are 3 -4 postdoctoral positions on the grant and the number of open slots is dependent upon continued availability of funding and the number of current trainees who will be renewed for an additional year of funding. For the current year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019), there are no positions available.

Be sure to clearly indicate you are applying for a postdoctoral position for the BEBTEH training grant. Prior to acceptance, applicants may be asked to provide the following additional information:
- A short research proposal;
- A statements addressing the applicant’s potential for interdisciplinary research in the environmental health sciences (based on their background, research interests, and/or career goals);
- A statement addressing why this Training Program and research experience is important in the pursuit of the applicant’s career goals;
- Three references;
- A letter of support from the prospective postdoctoral research advisor.
