Mr. Abarca recently graduated with his Public Health Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington. His research focuses on heat-related illness, working closely with Dr. June Spector. Mr. Abarca has presented his work at various conferences and was the recipient of the WSPHA’s 2017 Exceptional Student Award. Mr. Abarca has a strong passion for heat-related illness research and a strong commitment to improving farmworker health, as he is the son of immigrant farmworkers and a farmworker himself. This fall, he will continue his studies through the Health Services MPH program at the University of Washington.
