Yoni is a master's student in the exposure science track with the University of Washington's Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Department. His master's thesis focuses on leveraging statistical modeling to predict agricultural pesticide drift to prevent illness among farmworkers and neighboring communities. For his summer internship, he worked with King County Public Health researchers to investigate recent child lead poisoning cases in Afghan refugee communities. They found aluminum cookware contained lead levels of 10,000 ppm in their cookware and are working with communities to trade-in cookware for safer alternatives. He also contributes to wildfire smoke, COVID-19, and water quality projects. |
