Please note: BEBTEH trainees must be US citizens or permanent residents.
Predoctoral Applications
To be eligible to apply for a position on the BEBTEH training grant, you must first be formally admitted to a PhD program in one of the following departments, each of which has their own admissions policies and deadlines: Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, and Epidemiology.
There are 8 predoctoral positions on the grant. These position are distributed across the participating departments and programs within departments.
There are no available positions for the upcoming funding year (July 1, 2023– June 16, 2024). We will announce open slots and application deadlines for the next funding year (July 1, 2024– June 16, 2025) sometime in Spring 2024.
Predoctoral Application Instructions: If/when slots become available, you must submit a letter of interest and CV to the BEBTEH Program Coordinator.
Note: The number of openings is dependent upon continued availability of funding and the number of current trainees who will be renewed for an additional year of funding. Selection of new trainees depends on a variety of factors including home department, quality of the applicant, student’s research area and focus in the quantitative and environmental health sciences.
Postdoctoral Applications
Applications for postdoctoral positions will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. There are 4 postdoctoral positions on the grant and the number of open slots is dependent upon continued availability of funding and the number of current trainees who will be renewed for an additional year of funding.
There are no available positions for the upcoming funding year (July 1, 2023– June 16, 2024). We will announce open slots and application deadlines for the next funding year (July 1, 2024– June 16, 2025) sometime in Spring 2024.
Postdoctoral Application Instructions: Applicants should have a MD or a PhD in a public health or quantitative discipline. Applicants should send 1) a cover letter that describes their research interest and name a BEBTEH faculty with whom they wish to collaborate and 2) a curriculum vitae to the BEBTEH Program Coordinator via email to: bebteh@uw.edu. Be sure to clearly indicate you are applying for a postdoctoral position for the BEBTEH training grant.
Prior to acceptance, applicants may be asked to provide the following additional information:
- A short research proposal;
- A statements addressing the applicant’s potential for interdisciplinary research in the environmental health sciences (based on their background, research interests, and/or career goals);
- A statement addressing why this Training Program and research experience is important in the pursuit of the applicant’s career goals;
- Three references;
- A letter of support from the prospective postdoctoral research advisor.
