Developing innovative diagnostic tools to prevent the spread of tuberculosis, COVID-19 and other infectious diseases
The world needs faster, easier diagnostics to decrease the global burdens of tuberculosis and COVID-19 worldwide. Our research team develops innovative diagnostics that make it faster to detect active cases and safer for health care workers to collect samples. They also facilitate point-of-care testing and mass sampling in settings such as schools and workplaces.
Such tools also can help address critical bottlenecks in the global COVID-19 response. We are part of a collaborative effort to develop a simple, less invasive diagnostic method that allows patients to collect their own samples to be tested for COVID-19 that could help protect health care workers, preserve limited personal protective equipment and significantly speed up the testing process.
