Public health consultations

To reach us, call 1-206-221-8671 or email pehsu@uw.edu. A health consultant will respond within 1-4 business days, depending on the number and nature of calls received.

Northwest PEHSU serves as a free resource for public health professionals on matters of environmental health, including providing guidance after a chemical spill or natural disaster, promoting awareness of environmental health issues and creating harm reduction plans for exposures in everyday situations. We work with local, state and federal agencies to address children’s environmental health issues in homes, schools and communities. Consultations are primarily conducted via phone or email.

Development of educational tools and environmental health resources

Our team works to improve reproductive and pediatric health outcomes by creating tools that translate the available research on environmental health issues and provide evidence-based strategies for prevention and management of related health effects.

These tools can then serve as resources for clinicians and community members.

Examples of educational tools NW PEHSU has created or assisted in developing include an online continuing education course on pesticides and child health, a webinar on lead and downloadable fact sheets for clinicians on interpreting and managing low blood lead levels and on nitrates, methemoglobinemia and drinking water.
