The UW Superfund Research Program is participating in a newly formed "Healthy Seafood Consumption Consortium" for the Duwamish Waterway Superfund Site. Hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the consortium is comprised of non-profit, community, agency, and academic partners interested in contributing to efforts to promote healthy seafood consumption among people harvesting fish and shellfish from the polluted Duwamish River.

To support these efforts, UW SRP is partnering with Seattle-King County Public Health and Washington Fish and Wildlife department to produce a series of videos about salmon harvesting regulations, advisories, and cooking methods to reduce exposure to contaminants. The videos will be released by the end of the year in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Khmer to reach the most populous subsistence fishing communities on the river. All videos will be made available on the UW SRP web site when they are finished.
