Simran Gupta

Student Research Assistant

Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, University of Washington
Simran hometown is Los Altos, California. She decided to pursue Public Health at the University of Washington and has just completed her freshmen undergraduate year. This past year she began to work on her first research project. She says the research project ". . . has made me appreciate coding as well so I hope to major and graduate with a double degree in Public Health - Global Health and Informatics - Data Science. Presenting at the Research Symposium has been something I have always looked forward to doing and I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to participate in my first year here. I plan to continue researching at UW but hope to do a more intensive project that bridges my love for tech and science.” This summer, she will study abroad in London for a month, focusing on racial health disparities. After graduation she doesn’t know exactly what she will do but hopes to work with health informatics towards accommodating a variety of patients' needs to close the gap in healthcare disparities.
