Tania Vellejo Quiroga

Master Candidate

Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, University of Washington
Tania was born in Boyacá, one of the most important agricultural regions of Colombia, South America. For Tania growing up with a very agriculturally connected family, especially cattle raising, sugar cane and coffee bean harvesting, she developed a strong environmental interest, which led her to study environmental engineering in Bogotá. There, she learned how the environment impacts community health and well-being. Thanks to this and her own family experiences, she was motivated to pursue her Master of Environmental Health working toward protecting her community and keeping a sustainable environment. Currently, she is applying her knowledge and experience to the PNASH project "Engineering Solutions to Reduce Pesticide Exposure and Waste on Northwest Fruit Farms." This project aims to explore new spraying technologies that benefit the fruit-growing communities of the region in terms of exposure and efficiency.
