PNASH (Pacific Northwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center), in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington, is fully committed to protecting your privacy. Our privacy policy is important and we encourage you to read it.

This Privacy Policy addresses how we collect, use and share information through our app. This Privacy Policy does not apply to websites (including our own) that are linked from our app. This Privacy Policy describes the choices you have with respect to our access and collection of information from our app. Subject to applicable law, by using the app, you accept the terms of this Privacy Policy, and consent to the data collection and use described below.

How and Why We Collect Data and Other Information

  1. User provided information: You may choose to provide data, some of which may be personal (name, phone number, email, etc.), when you provide feedback, ask for assistance, complete a survey, send us an email, etc.
  2. Automatically collected information. We collect the following types of information automatically:
  • Information about your device. This includes the operating system and its capabilities to improve your user experience (for instance, setting a readable font size)
  • Information about how you use the app. This helps us to understand and analyze how you use our app, diagnose problems, and design future enhancements to the app.
  • Location information. We collect this information for scientific research purposes, and to make future improvements in the app. We may collect geographic location information via Global Positioning System (GPS) information, cell network data, and other location-based methods provided by your mobile device. We typically retrieve latitude and longitude coordinates, and a date and time stamp. Coordinate precision varies greatly. You can turn off our app location data collection through your device settings, or by uninstalling our app.

Data Collection and Storage Technology

Cookies, Web Beacons, etc. We do NOT use cookies, web beacons or similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service (mobile app). Our app does provide links to external websites. 1. Local Storage. We use local storage on your device, to store user preferences and other settings, as well as information on how you use the app (for instance, your user language, frequently opened pesticide labels, and the types of searches you perform). You can delete the local storage for the app, or uninstall the app to remove the data collected by the app.
  2. Cloud Storage. We use cloud storage to collect anonymous data (does not directly identify you, and cannot be linked to you) and on app usage (searches performed, labels viewed, etc.). This data is used to improve the app, prioritize features for enhancement, and for scientific research.

How We Use and Share Your Data

We collect information from the app in a format that does not identify you or other users, and we use or share this information in a number of ways:

  1. Aggregated data used for internal purposes. We may analyze the data collected to create aggregate/statistical data which we may use to improve our app, prioritize features for enhancement, etc. This is not personal information, and cannot be used to identify you or other users.
  2. Aggregated data provided to our funders, industry partners and collaborators. We may analyze the data collected to create aggregate/statistical data which we may share with our funders, industry partners, and collaborators. This is not personal information, and cannot be used to identify you or other users.
  3. Aggregated data used in scientific research and published in reports and papers.
