Last week, Nancy Simcox, Director of Continuing Education Programs, and Eric Vigoren, Director of the Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center, attended the 37th Annual Alaska Governor's Safety and Health Conference.
The theme,"Safety is No Accident ", represented the commitment of the Alaskan businesses, labor groups, and government to workplace health and safety.
Nancy and Eric connected with many partners from University of Alaska, NIOSH, OSHA Region X, AK OSH, Laborers International Union of North America, and employers like Alaska Tanker Oil Company. They discussed the NWC Professional Training Opportunity Program, well as upcoming courses offered by the Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center.
They also discussed the training needs for safety professionals, industrial hygienists, and others in Alaska to prevent fatalities and injuries in the workplace, and received great input by everyone on how to maintain occupational health training, expertise, and excellence so that all workers go home safe at the end of the day.
