Bill Daniell is a physician and epidemiologist in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences. Bill retired from his full-time DEOHS faculty position in 2016 but continues to work part-time in course instruction, student mentorship, and community-oriented projects.
Bill is a proponent of public health’s ability to promote evidence-based, community-centered action toward community health and equity, environmental justice, and climate justice. Bill co-instructs a Community Development course for the UW Community Oriented Public Health Practice MPH program. He is a member of the King County Board of Health. Bill headed a team that in 2013 completed a health impact assessment (HIA) of the proposed cleanup plan for the Duwamish Superfund site. He is an advisor to Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition and Just Health Action, for projects focused on Duwamish Valley communities.
Bill’s research topics have included: neurobehavioral effects of solvents and pesticides; multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome; occupational hearing loss; carpal tunnel syndrome; arsenic contamination of drinking water in Cambodia; child exposures from informal lead recycling in Vietnam; and risks of urban fishing in Seattle.
