Michele Andrasik, PhD
About
Michele Andrasik is a clinical health psychologist. She is the Director of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Community Engagement for the Fred Hutchinson-based HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), Senior Staff Scientist in the Fred Hutchinson Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division and an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Departments of Global Health and Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the University of Washington. Dr. Andrasik has worked in HIV prevention for over 25 years. Her focus has been on social and structural factors implicated in health inequities and stigma and discrimination experienced by communities with devalued identities (racial, ethnic, sexual and gender minorities).
An expert in Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and qualitative methods research, Dr. Andrasik has led a robust Social and Behavioral Sciences research agenda for the HVTN for almost a decade. She has extensive experience facilitating training on implicit bias, stigma, microaggressions and trauma to researchers, community-based organization staff and health departments.
