Sally Thompson-Iritani, DVM/PhD, CPIA, has worked in the animal welfare, compliance and research field for over 30 years. She feels strongly that recognizing the important role of our animal caregivers and the relationship that we form with the animals in our care is essential for the well-being of both the animals and the people that interact with laboratory animals. She provides leadership support as D2C’s Executive Sponsor and promotes the D2C program at the national and international level.

Sally received her DVM from Iowa State University and PhD from the University of Washington. She has worked in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and academic industries and always comes back to her roots of ensuring optimal care for the animals and people in the laboratory animal field. While not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats and extended family & friends.

She teaches guest lectures relating to One Health topics and has served on dissertation committees for graduate students.
