The Predictive Toxicology Center (PTC) for Organotypic Cultures is developing more accurate in vitro model - organ-mimicking cell cultures - to test chemicals for their potential risk to humans and to help scientists and regulatory agencies accelerate evaluations of large numbers of chemicals on how these chemicals impact organ and organ-systems. In particular, our work will greatly increase the ability to make informed decisions by targeting metals and metal-based engineered nanomaterials (ENMs), which have been challenging to evaluate using other in vitro assessment methods
