About

Therese Mar received her PhD in 1998 from the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences - Toxicology Program. Her doctoral research was on the toxicokinetics of toluene in men and women under exercising and resting conditions. Her post-doctoral research was in the area of air pollution epidemiology, where she studied the adverse effects of ambient air pollution on susceptible populations.

She currently serves as the UW's Director of the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity, which helps develop strategies and curricula to promote retention and academic success of underrepresented minority, first generation college, and low-income students. 

Her work with DEOHS includes teaching ENVH 105 every spring and promoting the department's programs to the OMAD's target student groups.
