Project title: Systematic Evaluation of Hearing Conservation Plans - A Pilot Project

Degree: MS (Thesis) | Program: Industrial Hygiene & Safety (IH&S) | Project type: Thesis/Dissertation
Completed in: 1999 | Faculty advisor: William E. Daniell

Abstract:

This thesis involved a noise-targeting pilot project conducted jointly by the University of Washington and the Washington Department of Labor and Industries. The pilot project targeted the foundry industry and measured their current noise exposure levels and evaluated their hearing conservation programs. The two thesis goals were:

1) To determine if individual worksites for an industry with high rates of occupational hearing loss claims currently have excessive noise exposures?

2) If so, have those worksites implemented hearing conservation plans that are compliant with current regulations?
