Equilibrium phase distribution coefficients are used to describe the degree of transfer from inhaled air to blood, or from blood to exhaled air in models of solvent pharmacokinetics such as are used for toxicological assessment pruposes. A review of the literature shows examples of interexperimental blood/air partition coefficient values for specific solvents that very by a factor of 2.5.

Organophosphate insecticides account for a large percentage of inseciticides currently in use. They are generally less likely to bioaccumulate than the organochlorines they largely replaced. Many organophosphates are highly acutely toxic to humans, however, and numerous documented cses of poisoning in pesticide applicators and field workers have been attributed to accidental overexposure.

Although enclosing hoods are often deemed the most effective type of hoods for industrial processes, there is little published research concerning enclosing hoods that are suitable for industrial conditions. Studies of laboratory hoods suggest that face velocity and the presence of a worker mannikin affect the level of contaminant reaching the face of the hood.

The objectives of this study were to determine whether or not exposure to ambient levels of ozone caused a differential inflammatory or functional response in asthmatic and nonasthmatic individuals. Ten asthmatic and eight nonasthmatic subjects were exposed to clean air, 120 ppb, or 240 ppb ozone for 90 minutes during intermittent moderate exercise.
