Dr. Kasner is an Assistant Teaching Professor with a research focus on leveraging technology to prevent injury and illness among working populations.

Meng Wang, PhD, joined the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences at the University at Buffalo as an assistant professor in June 2018. Previously, Wang was a senior fellow at the University of Washington, School of Public Health, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, Seattle, WA.

Elizabeth Walker has led coalitions seeking change throughout her career as a public health professional. She has a strong commitment to health equity and environmental justice; strengthening health systems and capacity-building; forming and managing effective collaborations; and enabling community-based solutions.

Dr. Austin received her Doctor of Science in Environmental Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, with concentrations in Exposure Assessment and Biostatistics.

I became interested in the characterization of urban air quality after working in Beijing in the mid-1990s. I make measurements to model the spatial and temporal distribution of pollutants. I am particularly interested in bringing new methods and technologies into exposure assessment for air pollution health studies.

Mary Schoen joined Soller Environmental after completing a post-doctoral research position with the US EPA. While with the EPA, Mary developed risk assessment and sustainability assessment tools for natural and engineered water systems. Her work helped to establish the scientific foundation for the development of new 2012 Draft National Ambient Water Quality Criteria.

Anne M. Riederer, MS, MSFS, ScD is an environmental health scientist focused on assessing exposures of young children and pregnant women to heavy metals, pesticides, and other environmental neurotoxicants. Before moving to Seattle, she was: American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow (2010-2012) hosted by Dr.

Marguerite Pappaioanou, DVM, MPVM, PhD, is an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, School of Public Health at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she contributes to the research, teaching, and outreach programs of the Center for One Health Research.

Dr Onstad works with the Washington State Department of Ecology as an Industrial Enforcement Specialist, which involves water quality regulation of industrial effluents that impact surface water, groundwater and wastewater treatment plants.  She gives guest lectures in undergraduate courses about water and sampling.

Dr. James Meador is an environmental toxicologist with NOAA Fisheries in Seattle. He earned a PhD in aquatic toxicology from the University of Washington and has more than 30 years' experience in the field. Jim's research interests include exposure assessment and characterization of toxic effects for metals, PAHs, tributyltin, PCBs and contaminants of emerging concern.

Dr. Mazengia is a Public Health Scientist specializing in Environmental Public Health, Microbiology and Epidemiology of food and waterborne pathogens.

Therese Mar received her PhD in 1998 from the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences - Toxicology Program. Her doctoral research was on the toxicokinetics of toluene in men and women under exercising and resting conditions.

Dr Lu is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Sciences in the College of Resources and Environment at Southwest University in Chongqing, China. His teaching and research is focused on environmental physiology and toxicology.  He assists Chinese students from Zhejiang University to apply for graduate studies within DEOHS. 

Dr. Tom Lewandowski is a toxicologist and chemist working in the Seattle, WA office of Gradient, a science consulting firm. He received his Ph.D. in toxicology from the University of Washington School of Public Health in 2000. He also holds an MPH in environmental health from the University of Michigan. Dr.

Dr. Kathi Lefebvre is a research biologist at NOAA's Northwest Fisheries Science Center. She is also an Affiliate Associate Professor in the UW Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences.

Dr. Takaro is a physician-scientist trained at the University of Washington, Occupational and Environmental Medicine Program. His work is directed primarily toward determining if linkages exist between occupational or environmental exposures and disease and finding public health based preventive solutions where such hazards exist.

Dr. Michael Dodd is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering (2001) and his M.S. in Environmental Engineering (2003) from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D.

David Beck is Director of Research for Life Sciences with the eScience Institute, the UW’s nexus for Data Science and Research Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering. He received his BS in Computer Science from Drexel University in 2000 and Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Biomolecular Structure & Design from Medicinal Chemistry in 2006.

Sverre Vedal is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the University of Washington (UW) School of Public Health. He  is a pulmonary physician and an epidemiologist with research interests in the adverse health effects of community air pollution and in occupational lung disease.

Dr. van Belle holds a joint appointment in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and the Department Biostatistics. He served as chair of the former from 1991 to 1998 at which time he returned to regular faculty status.

The general area of my teaching and research involves the applied aspects of environmental health practice, i.e., how the principles and concepts of environmental health are actually practiced in the field, especially by local, state, tribal and federal agencies.

Since earning his advanced degree in Chemical Engineering (MIT) and receiving post-doctoral training in Respiratory Physiology (Harvard School of Public Health), Dr. Morgan has spent thirty-seven years teaching and studying the human response to inhalation of air contaminants, including the products of combustion and volatile solvents.

Dr. Kissel has a history of research related to human exposure to environmental contaminants. One aspect of this work involves characterization of human dermal contact with soils and sediments.

David Kalman is a professor in the Environmental Health program. He is a chemist by training, earning his doctorate from the University of Washington in 1978. He joined the faculty in that year and has held numerous positions including director of the Environmental Health Laboratory and director of one graduate degree program and (currently) director of undergraduate degree education.

Dr. Michael Yost is Professor and Chair of the UW Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS). He is also the Director of the Pacific Northwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center at DEOHS. A member of the DEOHS faculty since 1993, Dr. Yost was named department chair in August 2014. 

Dr. Spector is a physician-scientist with a focus on the prevention and management of adverse health outcomes related to heat exposure in working populations. 

Dr. Lianne Sheppard is the Rohm & Haas Endowed Professor in Public Health Sciences at the UW Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) and Professor in the UW Department of Biostatistics. In 2021, Dr.

Dr. Edmund Seto is Professor in the UW Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences. He received his PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on the quantification of exposures and risk as they relate to environmental and occupational health.

Coralynn Sack joined the Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences and the Department of Medicine in 2018. She is a physician-scientist with clinical and research expertise in environmental and occupational lung disease. She received her MD from the University of Buffalo and MPH in epidemiology from the UW.

Dr. Rosenfeld is a Professor in DEOHS and has joint appointments in the Dept. Pathology and the Core Faculty of the Graduate Program in Nutritional Sciences. He is the director of the Environmental Pathology/Toxicology training grant, funded by NIEHS. Dr.
